Admissions » Student Advising
Student AdvisingOrientationNew students are required to attend an orientation program prior to their start date. Information is provided at orientation by the school’s Academic Dean, the Registrar, the Financial Services Office, and faculty members. Student AdvisingAcademic advising is provided throughout the school year by the Registrar, the Academic Dean, Faculty Advisors and the Department Chairpersons. In addition, career advising is available through the Career Services Office. Advising sessions and discussions with Academy administrative staff are confidential. Transfer AdvisingAdmissions Representatives are able to assist transfer students in the application process and familiarize them with the school’s location and facilities. The Registrar, in consultation with the Academic Dean, answers questions concerning transfer applications, transcripts and enrollment. All transfer applicants have the opportunity of making an appointment with the Registrar for specific questions. The Financial Services Office provides financial aid information for those applicants who are accepted into one of our degree programs. All studio-art course credit evaluations are based on both the transcript and the portfolio which is used to evaluate post-secondary art course experiences and to determine equivalency to Academy courses and requirements. The unit of credit at the Academy is the semester credit hour. To ensure equitable evaluation of transfer credit, copies of course descriptions or syllabi are helpful in ascertaining equivalency to Academy coursework. RegistrationEach semester, the Registrar notifies students of the registration procedures and the individual student’s progress towards graduation. The Catalog Requirements Analysis (CRA) clearly delineates all program requirements, the grades earned for those courses already completed, and the remaining obligations of the student. Courses offered during the next semester which can be used to satisfy needed credits are also listed. The Registrar welcomes questions on a student’s individual circumstances and is available for meetings. |
