Two Academy Students Win Prestigious
Easter Seals Seal Art Contest
Mike Hullinger and Colin Joyce, 2006 graduates of the American
Academy of Art, were two of the six artists chosen to have their artwork
featured on the prestigious and very popular springtime seals. Over one
hundred amateur and professional artists submitted “lily designs”
for the annual contest. Easter Seals then posted the artwork online for
the public to vote for their favorite “seal art”.
The first Easter Seals campaign was held in the spring of 1943. The
lily-a symbol of spring- was officially incorporated as the Easter Seals’
logo in 1952 for its association with resurrection and new life and has
appeared on each seal since. Hullinger and Joyce are now members of the
esteemed group of artists that have represented this long standing tradition.
American Academy of Art students are regular participants and winners
in this contest. It is but one example of classroom work mirroring what
a student will be doing in the professional art field and reinforcement
and application of their school training in real life situations.
Congratulations to Mike and Colin
