Ballantyne, Joyce

JOYCE BALLANTYNE received her degree from the American Academy of Art in
1940 and was a student of Gil Elvgren is perhaps best known for her iconic
Coppertone suntan lotion image, a little pig-tailed girl whose playful dog
pulls at her bathing suit. She also did advertising work for other
companies such as Sylvania TV, Dow Chemical, Coca-Cola, and Schlitz Beer,
many pin-up calendars and illustrations for Esquire and Penthouse
magazines.
