Thompson, Jill
JILL THOMPSON the most well-known female comic book artist working
today, receiving her degree in 1987. Thompson is best known for her
children’s book series, The Scary Godmother, and has also worked
extensively with comic book giants DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Topps, and
Dark Horse Comics, she is acclaimed for her work on WONDER WOMAN, SWAMP
THING, BLACK ORCHID and the award winning SANDMAN with Neil Gaiman. She
has received many awards for her work including “Lulu of the Year”
in 1999, Will Eisner Comics Industry Awards: “Best Humor Publication”
for
Bart Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror, in 2000; “Best Title for
a Younger
Audience” for Scary Godmother-The Boo Flu, in 2001; “Best
Painter” for
Scary Godmother-The Boo Flu, also in 2001. Thompson has also been
nominated for several other similar awards. Jill has returned to the
