Lopez, Blanca

Foundations, Fine Art

Fine artist Blanca Lopez joined the American Academy of Art faculty in 2001. She currently teaches Fundamentals of Art, Figure Painting and Life Drawing and serves as the Foundations Department Chairperson.

Her previous classroom experience includes teaching in the first year program at the School of the Art Institute (Chicago) and presenting as a visiting artist/lecturer at North Park University (Chicago), the University of Rio Grande (Ohio), Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago), Kendall College of Art and Design (Grand Rapids, Missouri), and Aurora College (Aurora, Illinois).

Her work has earned several awards, including the Stern Scholarship, the Ragdale Foundation Residency Fellowship, and recognition from the Chicago Artist Assistance Program.

She holds an M.F.A. from the University of Chicago.

Ms. Lopez is currently represented by the Byron Roche Gallery, and has been included in many exhibitions.
