The design, representing the 2018 conference theme of Innovation and Transformation, was created by Nicole Shepherd. Ms. Shepherd is currently a senior at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, majoring in illustration.

This artwork will be displayed at the 2017 annual conference and will be used in all of HLC’s communications about the 2018 conference. Ms. Shepherd received a prize of $1,500 for her winning entry.

The winner was chosen from dozens of submissions created by students, faculty and staff members at HLC-affiliated institutions. The HLC staff selected five finalists, and the public chose the winner in a poll on the annual conference website in mid-February. Ms. Shepherd’s entry won with more than 2,000 votes.
