American Academy of Art College Return to Campus Plan

Fall 2021

August 27, 2021

At the American Academy of Art College the fall 2021 classes will reflect a more traditional Academy experience including the majority of courses taught in-person. Humanities and Sciences department courses will be offered online and in-person. Class attendance will be required per the Academy’s attendance policy.

The American Academy of Art College will continue to follow the most up-to-date health and safety guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), the Chicago Department of Public Health and other governmental and public health agencies and will make adjustments as appropriate.

The American Academy of Art College will follow the mandates as outlined by Governor Pritzker on August 26, 2021.

Governor Pritzker announced on Thursday, August 26th that a statewide indoor mask requirement, regardless of vaccination  status, is effective as of Monday, August 30th  and a vaccine mandate for all students in higher education statewide. Students must receive the first dose of a two-dose vaccination series or a single-dose vaccination by September 5, 2021. Second dose of the vaccine must be received by 30 days after the first dose.

Students who are fully vaccinated are required to provide evidence of receiving the COVID-19 vaccination by emailing proof of vaccination status to vaccinated@aaart.edu. Effective September 5, 2021, students who do not meet the vaccination requirement must submit a negative COVID-19 test result on a weekly basis. The negative test result must be submitted before Sunday 11:59pm to enter classes on the following Monday morning.  The test must be taken within 72 hours prior to the Monday morning classes. A copy of the test result is to be submitted to covidtest@aaart.edu. As of Monday, August 30th, all students, faculty and staff will need to wear masks at the Academy.

Members of the Academy community should feel free to continue to wear face coverings for personal health reasons. Although cleaning will continue in public spaces and restrooms, the risk of transmission from contaminated surfaces or objects is generally low, according to the CDC. Cleaning wipes and hand sanitizer will continue to be readily available.
