On Monday, April 8, 2024, faculty members Kristin Mount, Jessica Mueller, and Jennifer Botich escorted their classes to nearby Grant Park for a clear view of the rare Solar Eclipse. While Chicago wasn’t in the path of totality, viewers were still able to see 94% coverage. The group shared protective glasses and passed around handmade pinhole projectors to safely watch as the moon passed over the sun at approximately 3:07 pm. For many, this is a once in a lifetime event and we are so glad our students were able to experience the extraordinary phenomenon.
